Abstract
<jats:p>It is crucial to educate prospective language teachers to create awareness towards intercultural competence and arrange activities in their courses so that they can develop their intercultural competence. Thus, they may be interculturally sensitive to better serve their future students' needs. In this chapter, the importance and the role of intercultural communication, how intercultural competence can be enhanced through employing AI-supported activities, and opportunities and challenges in this process have been discussed. For this purpose, to what extent various AI tools such as Chat GPT, Gemini, QuillBot, Canva, Grammarly, and others can be employed has been discussed in line with the syllabus of the intercultural communication course in the English Language teaching Department. All the activities have been based on Byram's (1997) language-pedagogical model, through diaries, focus group discussions, and reflections of the students.</jats:p>
