Sport as a Social Policy Tool

<jats:p>This chapter presents an analysis of sport as a strategic social policy tool, highlighting its potential to advance public health, social inclusion, youth development, and community cohesion. Drawing on theoretical frameworks such as social capital, welfare theory, and the Sport-for-Development and Peace (SDP) approach, this chapter examines how sport can improve physical and mental well-being, empower marginalized populations, foster life skills and education, and strengthen collective identity. Challenges including unequal access, governance issues, commercialization, and ethical concerns are discussed, alongside evidence-based policy recommendations for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable sport-based interventions.</jats:p>
