Threads of Wonders

<jats:p>This autoethnography traces a personal journey that began as an academic task and evolved into a transformative encounter with the cultural heart of the Sama people—the Tepo of Tawi-Tawi. Initially seen as an ordinary woven mat, the Tepo emerged as a living archive of artistry, memory, and indigenous intelligence. Through exploration, hesitation, and realization, immersion in Tepo deepened cultural empathy, self-discovery, and inspired culturally relevant mathematics teaching. Rather than analyzing weaving techniques, this study centers lived experiences, listening to stories within patterns and honoring relational wisdom across generations. It shows how indigenous knowledge is observed, felt, and negotiated through mindful participation. Curiosity becomes a catalyst for awakening and transformation. This work reimagines indigenous knowledge revitalization, positioning education as a space for honoring culture, community, and self.</jats:p>
