Abstract
Artificial intelligence stands out as a central technological paradigm transforming the current design ecosystem. The discussion revolves around computer systems moving beyond passive tools to become creative agents that organically partner with designers and incorporate their aesthetic preferences into the process. This study analyzes how artificial intelligence transforms design practices within the framework of Lev Manovich's new media approach, encompassing epistemology, phenomenology, and ontology. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data with expert opinions. The findings demonstrate that artificial intelligence is positioned as an agent in the design process, while users are transformed from technical implementers into curators/selectors managing the process. Consequently, a hybrid subjectivity model is proposed, where agency in design is distributed between humans and algorithms; and the necessity of a human-centered transformation in design education is argued.
