Abstract
The rich mammalian fossil record of Türkiye is of particular importance given the strategic position of the region between Eurasia and Africa. Nearly a century of research has provided valuable insights into the faunal developments, which are often separate from the western Eurasian mammal faunas. An analysis of the fossil record as it is recorded in the NOW database shows that there is a bias for the large mammal localities for the Late Miocene, where for the micromammals particularly the Early Miocene is well documented. Thus, the record still holds many possibilities for further research lines. But progress can not only be made by new discoveries, but certainly also by improving the record by revising existing collections.
