Abstract

It is generally accepted that the amygdala epithelium (APE) covering the ciliary processes of the ciliary body (CB) acts as a nonpassive covering, participating in the transport of aqueous humor (IOH) filtered from the stromal vessels into the anterior and posterior chambers of the eye. This article examines the role of APE in the structure of the CB in health and disease, as it relates to developing malignancies in human ocular structures. The dynamics of APE changes in uveal melanoma and retinoblastoma are also established. Research into malignancy issues and the relationship between their mechanisms and embryonic developmental induction will help identify potential biomarkers and targets for intervention
