The situational approach in the development of an enterprise management system

<jats:p>Ukrainian enterprises increasingly need to transform their management systems from classical, universal approaches to adaptive management models, making the situational approach a highly relevant scientific and practical tool for ensuring business resilience. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the scientific and methodical foundations for applying the situational approach in the enterprise management system, as well as to develop practical measures for implementing the situational approach in the management system of PE «VTCF Zolotyi Kolosok». The article uses a complex of general scientific and special methods: comparative analysis to contrast classical and situational approaches in management; a systems approach to analyze the enterprise management system; and a diagnostic method to identify managerial situations. Data from the operations of PE «VTCF Zolotyi Kolosok» served as the empirical basis. As a result of the study, the essence and key features of the situational approach in management are defined, and a comparative analysis of classical and situational approaches is conducted, establishing the advantages of the latter under conditions of uncertainty. Using PE «VTCF Zolotyi Kolosok» as a case study, a diagnosis of the management system was conducted, revealing both weaknesses and strengths. Five key managerial situations were identified, and the responsiveness of the enterprise management system was evaluated against the situational approach’s requirements. A set of measures is proposed to transform the management system from reactive to proactive situational management, and the need to rebrand PE «VTCF Zolotyi Kolosok» as part of the situational strategy is substantiated. For the first time, a diagnosis of managerial situations in the management system of a small manufacturing enterprise in Ukraine under martial law was conducted through the prism of the situational approach. The proposed measures can be implemented into the management system of PE «VTCF Zolotyi Kolosok» to increase flexibility and financial resilience, while the developed methodology for diagnosing managerial situations can be scaled to other small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine. Prospects for further research consist in a comparative analysis of the situational approach application at enterprises across different industries and sizes.
