COMPOSITE ELECTROCHEMICAL COATINGS BASED ON IRON WITH A PG-S27 DISPERSED PHASE

<jats:p>Agricultural machinery components operate under conditions of abrasive wear, contact loads, and periodic exposure to polluted environments. Surfacing, spraying, and electrochemical deposition of coatings are used to restore such coatings. It is important to increase the wear resistance of the restored surface without intensive wear of the mating component using composite coatings. The production of composite iron-chromium electrochemical coatings with a moderately hard dispersed phase based on PG-S27 powder was studied. An iron-chromium electrolyte containing ferrous sulfate, glycine, and chromium nitrate was used. PG-S27 powder was added to the electrolyte suspension in an amount of 10 to 120 kg/m³. The coatings were deposited on 30X steel specimens using asymmetric current. The density and dynamic viscosity of the electrolyte suspension, the content of the dispersed phase in the coating, the microstructural features, and the layer growth rate were determined. It was found that the introduction of PG-S27 powder up to 50 kg/m³ increases the suspension density from 1150 to 1158 kg/m³, and the dynamic viscosity from 1.220 to 1.240 P. The relative increase in viscosity is about 1.6%. At a powder concentration of 60–65 kg/m³, the content of the dispersed phase in the coating reaches 20–22% vol., and at 100 kg/m³ – 25–26% vol. The deposition rate increases from 0.14 to 0.38 mm/h with an increase in the PG-S27 concentration to 60–80 kg/m³. The obtained results demonstrate the possibility of using PG-S27 powder for the formation of wear-resistant composite electrochemical coatings intended for the restoration of moving mating parts.</jats:p>
