Abstract

Attention is drawn to the fact that health is not only an individual value, but also a component of national security, a factor in preserving the gene pool and one of the goals of sustainable development. The role of education in preserving the health of the population is emphasized. The paradox of mass loss of health among minors during the period of obtaining general secondary education is stated. It is noted that the problem of preserving health has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and the war. It is argued that the actualization of the formation of health-preserving competence of future teachers in the current conditions is asserted.             Based on the theoretical analysis of the problem under study, it is asserted that currently many researchers pay attention to the insufficient health-preserving competence of teachers as a consequence of imperfect professional training.             Common problems of the formation of health-preserving competence of future teachers are identified: the problem of competence, the problem of content, the problem of technology, the problem of the lack of academic discipline, the problem of taking into account modern conditions and their essence is revealed. It is emphasized that the more of the above problems occur in a higher education institution, the more unprepared the graduates of this institution will be for health preservation in their future professional activities.             The conclusion is made that, despite the strategic importance of health preservation of citizens and the corresponding role of the education system, the current formation of health preservation competence of future teachers often does not meet social demands due to the presence of a number of the above problems.             The prospects for further scientific research are outlined, which consist in studying the formation of health preservation competence of future teachers in the conditions of informal education.
