Abstract

<jats:p>The article deals with the advantages of the competency-based approach in the formation of professional competence of future primary school teachers. A theoretical analysis of the concepts of «competence», «competence», «competence approach» was carried out. Based on the key competencies presented in the European Reference Framework of Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, the following professional competencies of a future primary school teacher are outlined: sectoral and subject-specific, pedagogical and psycho-didactic, informational and communicative, diagnostic and interventional, psychosocial and communicative, professional and personal development, managerial and normative, social. Their brief description is provided. The principles that accelerate the process of forming professional competence in future primary school teachers are characterized: the principle of targeted integration of academic disciplines; intra-subject integration; dialectical unity of forms and methods of teaching; personal and role organization of the educational process; taking into account individual and age characteristics; promotion of self-realization and self-affirmation; socio-pedagogical support of subjects of the educational process. It is summarized that in an educational institution, a future primary school teacher should be prepared in such a way as to motivate himself for professional self-development, stimulate innovation and creativity within the framework of pedagogical interaction in the classroom and beyond, and be prepared for pedagogical challenges in future professional activities.</jats:p>
