Abstract
<p>LUDIA is a no-cost, private, multilingual AI thought partner that connects educators, instructional designers, and learning leaders with the Universal Design for Learning framework. UDL guidance is necessarily written in general terms, while a barrier is always particular to this design, these learners, this week. LUDIA is built to close that distance while a design decision is still open, redirecting attention away from fixing the learner and towards reducing barriers in the design of instruction and learning environments. It is a thought partner rather than a content generator, and it carries no teaching method of its own.This statement describes the LUDIA relaunching in August 2026, rebuilt on a platform of its own after three years on a third-party commercial platform. It sets out the decisions behind that rebuild: no account, no cookies, no chat content held on our servers, no data collected for model training, WCAG 2.2 Level AA, 13 languages, and an architecture designed to scale as a public good, with no premium tier and no advertising.The relaunched tool is then read against four guides published in 2026, from UNICEF, the European Commission, the EdTech Quality Collaborative, and the European EdTech Alliance. We hold no evidence that LUDIA improves learning and say so throughout, and we say the same of the evidence base of UDL itself, which is under active and legitimate challenge.We publish at relaunch, while the design can still change, as the sector moves from proof of impact towards proof of trust.</p>
