Abstract
The objective of this article was to analyze the relationship between the sense of belonging and perceived academic performance in a population of 8th-semester students of the Accounting Degree at the Academic Unit of Accounting and Administration [UACyA] of the Autonomous University of Nayarit [UAN]. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a non-experimental, cross sectional design, focusing the analysis on descriptive statistics. The results reveal an operational dissociation within the belonging construct: while the affective factor, measured by institutional pride, is perceived as the primary driver of motivation for high academic performance, as well as the social dimension [interaction with peers and faculty]. It is concluded that the sense of belonging among these students is grounded in an affective and symbolic commitment to the institution and professional achievement, rather than in active social integration.
