Abstract
Gender equality has been a topic of study since the last century. In Mexico, the implementation of measures to promote gender equity and guarantee women's rights began on December 4, 1946, as indicated in Article 115 of the Mexican Constitution, and went into effect on February 12, 1947, when it was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. Including a gender perspective in school curricula is essential to raising awareness and promoting equality and respect among students. Strategies that address educational practices that break stereotypes and promote equality in the classroom are essential. UNESCO shows that in Latin America, contributions have been made to raising awareness among young people about respect for diversity, although the implementation of effective policies still requires greater commitment to achieve profound and lasting change. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that, although participating students show a slight development toward the adaptive phase in the sociocultural sphere, sexist stereotypes still prevail in the relational and personal spheres, where gender roles are very important.
