Abstract
<jats:p>The monograph examines the biography of a prominent scientist famous and civil activist of the last third of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century. Maxim Maksimovich Kovalevsky (1851–1916), whose pedagogical, scientific, civil-political and other areas of activity, intellectual heritage. Based on the analysis of the scientist’s scientific works, biographical materials and other sources, the study outlines the main stages of М. М. Kovalevsky’s life and intellectual development, defines his place within the intellectual landscape of this period and clarifies the significance of his scientific heritage for the further development of the social sciences and humanities.</jats:p>
