Abstract
This monograph examines lexical creativity in English-language chick lit – a genre of post-feminist literary discourse which, despite its cultural significance and innovative richness, has hitherto remained under-represented in linguistic research. The comprehensive approach adopted in this work allows for an understanding of the concept of lexical creativity based on a unified analytical framework, formed through the interaction of systemic-functional linguistics, the tools of cognitive linguistics, the element-operational model of morphology, linguopragmatics and translation studies. The elements of lexical creativity are identified and analysed as a 3D model that co-evolves to create an innovative product. Strategies for human and machine translation of lexical creativity in the ‘English–Ukrainian’ language pair are analysed. For researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students, and anyone interested in issues of linguistic creativity and translation.
