THE PARTICIPATION OF CITY SELF-GOVERNMENT IN ENSURING CONSUMER NEEDS IN THE COUNTY CENTERS OF THE OREL PROVINCE IN THE LATE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURIES

<jats:p>The article examines the activities of the county towns of the Orel province to meet the consumer needs of the population. The author analyzes the organizational powers of city Dumas and councils for the organization of fairs, bazaars, markets and trading establishments. The competence of the city government in the handicraft and industrial sphere is determined. The functions of cities to maintain fair trade, control pricing and supply are characterized.</jats:p>
