Abstract
<jats:p>The monographic study presents a well-founded methodological philosophical basis (humanism, human-centeredness, multiculturalism, multilingualism) in the presentation of the modern European language policy "Unity in Diversity", is based on the international principles of equality, non-discrimination, barrier-freeness, adheres to democratic approaches, recognizes the unique rights of the deaf as members of cultural and linguistic minorities with their national sign languages (NSL) and the distinctive heritage of their communities, responds to the positions of international institutions of the VFG, the European Union of the Deaf regarding the recognition of natural LS, the rights of its users, motivates the development of legal, linguistic standards, including terminology, recommends language planning strategies, in particular in the field of education, develops mechanisms for the academic content of language learning, has created and develops a single European multicultural multilingual space. The peculiarities of the language policy of the World Federation of the Deaf, the European Union, and the Council of Europe were taken into account when analyzing the Ukrainian legislative framework (definition of legal status, users, theoretical foundations of functioning, trends in studying and defining the principles of sign language policy, application of USL in the educational sphere, taking into account European experience and the role of public organizations. For the first time, the ecological framework of Ukrainian sign language in planning the state's sign language policy was studied, compared with the indices of environmental planning of European and non-European countries, and trends in the Strategy for the Formation of Sign Language Policy, in particular in the field of education of Ukraine, which represents a democratic vector of changes based on the inclusive principles of openness, equality, and accessibility, were identified. Addressed to scientists, educators, sign language interpreters, parents of deaf children, students of humanitarian disciplines, and public organizations.</jats:p>
