Abstract
This book begins with the traceable architecture of Yantai Mountain, aiming to unveil the personal histories behind the buildings and the stories of the families associated with them. Through the “visible architecture”, it seeks to glimpse the “invisible history”, reconstructing the historical narrative of Yantai Mountain and the urban development of Fuzhou City. The individuals in these stories lived through the area’s history as Fuzhou’s “foreign settlement”, witnessed various wars and upheavals, and experienced the city’s urbanization firsthand. They are the most vivid connectors between Yantai Mountain’s past and present. And their histories represent the most authentic chronicle of Yantai Mountain.
