What Should the National Philosophical Tradition Convey?

<jats:p>This paper demonstrates that the contemporary Ukrainian debate regarding the national philosophical tradition has exhausted its potential in the aspect of “unity versus multiplicity”. Fundamental disagreements between the sides are absent, both in terms of tradition as a “single discourse” and regarding the multiplicity of philosophical phenomena. Since both sides define “tradition” differently, they do not genuinely contradict one another. However, this debate offers a highly fruitful prospect concerning the search for generalising terms to designate multi-level subjects of “Ukrainian-language philosophising”, or philosophising in any other languages. Furthermore, the paper establishes that the successful development of the “local contexts of global philosophies” project is driven by the productive potential of the divergences that generated the aforementioned debate.</jats:p>
