<jats:p>The article analyzes the feasibility of developing motor qualities and forming military-applied motor skills of servicemen in order to form physical readiness to perform combat and special tasks as assigned under the influence of adverse factors (shelling, chronic fatigue, combat stress, lack of time, lack of information or its overload, etc.) and investigates the significance of these qualities and skills for the effectiveness of combat training and combat activities in the conditions of modern war. To achieve the goal of the work, a theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific, educational and methodological literature, Internet data, documentary method, and comparison method were carried out. According to the results of the study, it was established that physical training ceases to be considered as an isolated element of the combat training system and acquires the character of a functional component of the military-professional activity of servicemen. This approach involves combining physical capabilities with human cognitive processes, when movement becomes the result not only of automated skills, but also of an operational analysis of the situation that has developed on the battlefield. As a result, the so-called functional motor competence is formed, which is characterized by the ability to adapt motor actions to changing conditions of activity. The above emphasizes the expediency of developing motor qualities and forming military-applied motor skills of servicemen in order to form physical readiness to overcome physical and mental loads that arise during combat training and combat activities in the conditions of modern war.</jats:p>
