Abstract
<p>This study characterizes the conversation on the social network X during the prolonged blackouts that Ecuador endured in late 2024. For this purpose, 3,952 posts published between September and December were analyzed. The messages were grouped by semantic proximity, classified into affective-communicative categories, and their stability was verified; the daily composition was contrasted with the scheduled outage hours using models that respect the interdependence of proportions. The corpus was organized into four discursive functions—psychosocial distress, media framing, informational monitoring, and politicization—each with its own affective profile and shifting presence. The grouping proved consistent throughout the procedure. These profiles broaden the information offered by aggregate polarity and provide useful criteria for the field of crisis communication.</p>
