Abstract

<p>This study examined how perceived partner responsiveness (PPR) and insensitivity (PPI) predict daily emotion regulation (ER) flexibility, operationalized via the maladaptive ER ratio. Adolescents (N = 112, 12–18 years) and caregivers (N = 108, 33–64 years) dyads completed 28-day diaries. Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) analyses showed that actor (between and within person) PPR predicted higher ER flexibility, whereas actor PPI predicted lower ER flexibility (ps &amp;lt; .038). Partner higher daily PPR predicted higher ER flexibility (p = .040). Furthermore, role (adolescent/caregiver) moderated the actor daily PPR effect (p = .037) and the partner daily PPI effect (p = .007), revealing distinct relational daily dynamics across roles. These findings highlight how interpersonal attachment perceptions shape daily family ER flexibility.</p>
