The Link between Family-Supportive Supervisor Behavior and Work-Family Enrichment: Results of Exploratory Study

<p>The mere presence of resources does not automatically lead to work-family enrichment. The current study aims to explore the mediating roles of work-family enrichment self-efficacy and leader-member exchange in the relationship between family-supportive supervisor behavior and work-family enrichment. A sample of 218 Lithuanian employees (166 women) participated in the study. Scales measuring family-supportive supervisor behavior, work-family enrichment, work-family enrichment self-efficacy, and leader-member exchange were utilized alongside demographic questions. The results confirmed that work–family enrichment self-efficacy and leader–member exchange fully mediate the relationship between family-supportive supervisor behavior and work-family enrichment. Additional analyses were performed at the dimensional level of family-supportive supervisor behavior. Paper discusses that merely having contextual resources, such as family-supportive supervisor behavior, may not by itself fully explain work-family enrichment. Further studies are needed to better understand the relationship between resources and work-family enrichment.</p>
