European Union agricultural policy in the context on Ukraine’s accession to the EU

<jats:p>The article analyzes the problem of the influence of the common agricultural policy of the European Union on the process of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. The purpose of the article is to study the influence of the common agricultural policy of the EU on the negotiations on Ukraine's accession. The methodology is based on the structural–functional method, the systemic method, the retrospective method, the comparative and descriptive methods. The structural–functional method made it possible to analyze the features of the interaction of the institutions of the European Union and Ukraine. The systemic method contributed to the consideration of this problem in the general context of the development of the process of European integration. The retrospective method was used to understand the background of the common agricultural policy of the European Union. The comparative and descriptive methods made it possible to highlight the common and distinctive features of the agricultural policy of Ukraine and the European Union. Scientific novelty of the article. The current state of the agricultural policy of the European Union is highlighted. The impact of the Russian–Ukrainian war on the evolution of the agricultural sector of the Ukrainian economy is shown. The consequence of this is the closure of individual farms and the priority development of agricultural holdings. At the new technological level, Ukrainian agriculture has actually returned to the tradition of latifundia. Significant differences in the development of agriculture in the countries of the European Union have been established. There are both large agricultural holdings and medium–sized family farms. The conclusions note that the European Union is not ready to subsidize Ukrainian agricultural holdings. The option of merging large Ukrainian agricultural holdings and European agricultural holdings is hardly possible, given the antitrust policy of the European Union. It is important to determine the strategy for implementing Ukraine's agricultural policy before accession negotiations. A radical position is almost associated with the rejection of claims to agricultural subsidies. Keywords: European Union, common agricultural policy, accession negotiations, Ukraine.</jats:p>
