Abstract
<jats:p>Building on the analysis of documentary sources as well as the efforts of Ukrainian and foreign researchers, this scientific edition covers the development of agrarian relations in Ukraine from the earliest period to the early 21st century. Its authors pay special attention to the issues of agricultural change under the influence of global economic transformations and reveal secular shifts in the status and living standards of the peasantry. Deeper understanding of the past agrarian social orders can become a reliable basis for Ukraine's progress as a democratic and prosperous state.
