Abstract

<jats:p>This monograph reveals the main technological and breeding factors in the formation of meat productivity traits in sheep of combined and specialised meat productivity. It thoroughly covers the results of current and previous studies of the author’s team, which characterise the breed and linear features of individual development of young animals of the main breeds of sheep common in Ukraine. The relationship of traits that determine the formation of meat productivity with other breeding traits and reproductive capacity, livestock safety, basic physiological and biochemical parameters of the animal body, as well as with candidate genes associated with it is revealed. The meat productivity of sheep is characterised not only in terms of its quantitative assessment, but also with regard to the biological and nutritional value of lamb. A significant part of the monograph is also devoted to the influence of factors of intensity and completeness of feeding, new feedstuffs, and organic production technology on the quantitative and qualitative indicators of meat productivity of young sheep of different genotypes. The monograph is intended for a wide range of potential users farm managers, specialists in the sheep breeding and processing industry, researchers, teachers, postgraduate students and students of agricultural universities.</jats:p>
