Abstract

The study is devoted to examining the effectiveness of introducing an individual educational trajectory in higher education. Achieving this goal requires solving the problem of modelling educational activity implemented in two ways: the first is characterized by a single curriculum content for all students, while the second is built around a personalized educational pathway that takes into account the individual characteristics of students and the rapidly changing needs of the labour market. Using agent-based modelling, the authors conduct a comparative analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of these two learning models. To test the effectiveness of the two educational models, a parametric statistical method is used. Based on simulation modelling of the educational process in two different modes, a positive effect of introducing individualization into the educational process is demonstrated. The developed model as tested using the example of the bachelor’s degree program 12.03.04 Biotechnical Systems and Technologies, specialisation “Biomedical Engineering,” implemented at Ufa University of Science and Technology at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, where additional educational courses are selected based on students’ choices and labour market needs. The practical significance of the proposed simulation model lies in its potential use in the planning of university education and as a basis for a decision support system for the educational process.
