Organization of the Knowledge Base in a Subject-Oriented Decision Support System

<jats:p>The aim of this study is to develop a concept for organizing a knowledge base of a subject-oriented decision support system (DSS) that helps actors find ways out of the problematic situations they face. To achieve this aim, it is necessary to present the DSS architecture as a whole, understand the place of the knowledge base within the overall DSS structure, develop the structure of the knowledge base, classify the knowledge that will populate it, and formulate the rules describing the knowledge contained in the knowledge base. The originality of the research problem, related to developing a knowledge base for a subject-oriented DSS, determines the scientific novelty of the study and the methods used, among which the authors highlight the method of system analysis and the theory of intersubjective management of problematic situation resolution. The article presents for the first time the structure of the knowledge base of a subject-oriented DSS and develops a system of rules governing the operation of the DSS, which are divided into general and specific ones. General rules are related to searching for information within the knowledge base and do not have a complex structure. Specific rules are related to a complex structure and non-standard solutions. For the first time, a set-theoretic model of functioning the rule base is presented, and an algorithm is developed according to which the DSS handles precedents, accesses the knowledge base, updates and replenishes the knowledge base, thereby increasing the effectiveness of decision-making for each subsequent group of actors in the next problematic situation.</jats:p>
