Concept for improving the efficiency of welding work management processes

<jats:p>This article presents a scientific basis for improving the efficiency of welding work management through intelligent decision support. The tasks facing welding production are to improve the quality of the finished product and ensure reliability, safety, and faultless operation. To solve these tasks, it is advisable to consider welding production as a complex organizational system that requires effective management. The quality criterion for welding work is the minimization of the number and size of weld seam defects. The main cause of defects is often the human factor, which may be reflected in insufficient qualification of welders or the manager’s irrational allocation of welders to tasks. The concept presented in the article makes it possible to improve the efficiency of welder training management using swarm intelligence algorithms and the rational allocation of tasks based on evolutionary modelling. The basis of the concept is a closed-loop control system that ensures a continuous “training-control-allocation-feedback” cycle. The findings state that the proposed algorithm for assigning welding tasks makes it possible to reduce the number of weld joint defects by 20-30% through intelligent decision support in organizing welder training and assigning welding tasks among the performers.</jats:p>
