Abstract
The study aims to identify the contradictions and potential developmental trends of digital higher education within the context of the formation of a digital society. The article reveals the essence and content of the concept of “digital higher education”, as well as the contexts of its use; defines the significance of digital higher education at the current stage of social development; identifies contradictions in digital higher education and presents them in the form of dilemmas; and outlines possible scenarios for the development of digital higher education. The scientific novelty of the work lies in its socio-philosophical interpretation of the formation of a new educational paradigm for higher education in Russian society. The research establishes that the identified contradictions create a situation of uncertainty, which serves as a catalyst for a wide range of risks posing serious challenges to the future of digital higher education. In this regard, three possible scenarios are presented: optimistic (full-scale digital transformation of higher education), pessimistic (stagnation of the digitalization of higher education), and realistic (hybrid education).
