COMPENSATION TO THE VICTIM OF THE HARM CAUSED BY THE CRIME: ISSUES OF LEGISLATIVE REGULATION AND LAW ENFORCEMENT

<jats:p>The article discusses the problems of compensation for victims of harm caused by a crime. Both legal and organizational problems are analyzed. It is concluded that the legislator has not paid enough attention to the issue of compensation for harm at the stage of preparation for the court session. The organizational problems of compensation for harm caused by a crime include such as: the delay in taking measures to compensate for harm; the length of time required to verify reports of crimes; the length of time required to investigate criminal cases. In order to eliminate organizational problems, the necessity of improving departmental control and prosecutorial supervision in pre-trial criminal proceedings is substantiated. As another tool in the mechanism of compensation for harm caused by a crime, it is proposed to create a state-level Compensation Fund for Victims of Crime.</jats:p>
