Experiencing and Overcoming the Crisis of Early Adulthood (Using the Example of Psychology Students at RANEPA)

<jats:p>The article presents the results of an empirical study on the experience of the crisis of the early adulthood among 53 psychology students of the North-West Institute of Management of RANEPA (aged 19‒22 years). It was established that 94% of the respondents do not consider themselves fully grown up. The system-forming element of the structure of an individual’s attitudes towards existential realities is ontological security, which has 7 significant correlations. A negative correlation was recorded between the subjective feeling of adulthood and the “Concept of Death” indicator (rs = −0.364; p &lt; 0.05). The most pronounced features of emerging adulthood according to the IDEA methodology were self-focus and the feeling of being “in-between adolescence and adulthood”. The data obtained complement J.J. Arnett’s concept of emerging adulthood as applied to a Russian student sample, confirm the hypotheses of the study, and offer practical guidance for the curatorial support of psychology students during the normative crisis.</jats:p>
