The Role of Academic Periodicals in Educators’ Work Aimed at Fostering Spiritual and Moral Values in the Younger Generation (A Case Study of the Journal “Spiritual and Moral Education”)

<jats:p>This article is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the journal “Spiritual and Moral Education”. Exploring the role of the journal in the pedagogical work of schoolteachers and university professors serves as an example of how academic periodicals can be used in activities aimed at fostering spiritual and moral values in the younger generation. Particular attention is paid to fulfilling the objectives outlined in Decree No. 809 of the President of the Russian Federation on Russian traditional spiritual and moral values. The article analyses the journal’s con-tent in 2025–2026, including its sections and topics, their correlation with official state policy, and their align-ment with the scientific specialties recognized by the Higher Attestation Commission. The article characterizes the focus of spiritual and moral education as envisioned by the journal, i. e. the development of the best moral qualities, norms, and values that regulate human behavior in society, as well as the religious aspect of upbring-ing. The article provides practical recommendations for updating and developing the topic of “the role of aca-demic periodicals in spiritual and moral education” in scientific and methodological journals with a pedagogical focus, as well as for aligning the content of pedagogical research and methodology articles with state objec-tives for preserving and strengthening Russian traditional spiritual and moral values.</jats:p>
