The Problem of the Other and the Foreign in the European and Russian Intellectual Tradition of the Modern Era: Origins and Specific of Interpretation

<jats:p>The article is devoted to the study of the origins and interpretation of the problem of the Other and the Foreign in the European and Russian intellectual traditions of the Modern era. The author appeals to the sources of this question in various philosophical traditions. The problematcs of otherness, axiological reception of the Self, the Other, and the Foreign has a sustainable significance for philosophical culture, social philosophy, philosophical anthropology, and history of philosophy. The methodological basis of the research consists of the following complementary approaches: genetic approach (G. Vico) and hermeneutic approach (H.-G. Gadamer). The analysis revealed the origins and specific features of the understanding of the Other and the Foreign in the European and Russian intellectual traditions of the Modern era. It was established that the reasoning in the European and Russian traditions witnessed the contradictions of the senses. The semantic discrepancy of the studying concepts and the geterogeneity of on-thological statutes of the Other and the Foreign in Europe and Russia of the Modern era are highlighted. It was idetified that a problem of chronological shift in Russia and the inner Other exists referring to the investigating topic. The analysis of the origins noted the absence of a common model in the reception and description of the Other and the Foreign, and non-reducibility of intellectual traditions.</jats:p>
