Abstract
The relevance of the stated issue is due to the need to assess the current market situation in the field of the medicine’s nomenclature for its compliance with the existing legal framework, as well as the insufficient development of methodological aspects of the topic. The purpose of the study is to determine the compliance degree of the actual situation in the pharmaceutical nomination field with the methodological recommendations approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and find out how appropriately it is presented in textbooks. The research material was a sample of antibiotic names commercially available on the modern Russian pharmaceutical market, produced according to the Register of Medicines of Russia, with a volume of 80 interna tional non-proprietary name and 529 brand name. The main results of the study are: 1) legal documents regar ding the list of recommended word-formation elements do not accurately reflect the modern scientific classification of antibiotics; 2) in general, manufacturers follow the basic guidelines for the formation of correct pharmaceutical names; 3) the authors identify new regularly used word-formation elements and establishes the extension of the meaning of the-mycinum segment; 4) stem-composition is not the main method of forming pharmaceutical nomenclature names; 5) the presentation of the topic in the text-books is not based on real nominative practice, but solely on the legal framework, which reduces its informative and careeroriented value; therefore, in methodological terms, the authors recommend to revise the educational presentation of the topic, taking into account the current situation in the field of pharmaceutical nomination. The prospect of the study lies in the possibility of extrapolating the applied methodology to the analysis of the other groups of medicine names and the implementation of the results obtained in the practice of teaching relevant disciplines.
