CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC LANDSCAPE OF A PROVINCIAL TOWN

<jats:p>The purpose of the article is to examine the linguistic landscape of a small town in the context of cultural studies. It examines the interaction between language and culture in an urban space and analyzes the role of urbanisms as an important component of the linguistic landscape. The authors give special attention to the formation of the linguistic landscape under the influence of socioeconomic and cultural factors. The novelty of the research lies in its interdisciplinary approach, studying works of foreign and Russian scientists. It is also worth noting the insufficient study of the symbolic function of the linguistic landscape of a provincial city compared to the number of studies conducted in large multilingual cities. As a result, the authors formulate key conclusions, demonstrating the cultural meanings and functions of the linguistic landscape of a small town, analyze the main patterns of linguistic landscape formation through cultural, historical,and socioeconomic factors. The article also presents a description of urban linguistic landscape formation mechanisms.</jats:p>
