<jats:p>The publication presents a composite bow and arrows discovered in 2012 in the Mongolian Altai Mountains, specifically on Bukhun Mountain. The artefacts were found by a Kazakh herdsman and sold to B. Jargalsaikhan, a resident of Bayan-Ulgii. The seller did not disclose the exact location of the find. The artefacts likely came from a rock grave site. Thus, the original buried site remains unknown, but future research will focus on locating and studying the site more comprehensively. Rock graves are a common form of burial among nomads in the Altai Mountains, and over ten have been found in the last five years. Currently, there is no radiocarbon (C14) date for the artefacts. Still, detailed descriptions and comparisons with composite bows from nearby sites, such as Jargalant Khairkhan and Chonot rock graves, show similarities in shape, dimensions, and style, suggesting that the optimal design for composite bows was likely established by the 7th century. Preliminarily, we assume the composite bow from Bukhun Mountain dates to the early medieval period of Mongolian history, possibly the 7th to 9th century AD.</jats:p>
