Active Partner as a Student’s Communicative Personality in Online Pedagogical Discourse

<jats:p>An Active Partner is a productive communicative personality type among students in virtual pedagogical discourse. The article provides an expanded typological description of this type, encompassing its strategic, semiotic, motivational, and cognitive parameters. The empirical database comprises 949 Telegram and Sferum dialogues involving 5th–11th graders from Kemerovo and Leninsk-Kuznetsky collected between 2022 and 2025. Discursive, contextual, semantic-pragmatic, and quantitative analyses made it possible to identify this communicative personality type based on the parameters of communicative initiative and the focus of communicative behavior. Active Partners demonstrated strategies of requesting information, persistence, avoiding punishment, and cooperating. Regarding semiotic preferences, they predominantly used cooperative verbs, polite request modal operators, ameliorative vocabulary, and positive emojis. An Active Partner acted as a floor holder for the entire student group, ensuring the coherence of academic dialogue. They focused on cooperation, reflection on their own knowledge, and a dominant epistemic modality. Understanding student communicative types may help teachers optimize interaction in the digital environment.</jats:p>
