Abstract

Abstract

The human resource information systems are now considered to be critically important to organizational success of large firms in competitive global economies but little evidence has been made on the HRIS effectiveness in developing economies especially in the Middle East where organizations have experienced notable challenges with their human resource management practices owing to organizational complexity, traditional paper-based system, and the competitive pressures. This paper explores the correlation between the quality dimension of HRIS (system quality, information quality, and service quality) and employee performance outcomes in large Iraqi firms, which fills a major research gap on the issue of adoption of organizational technology in the Middle East and justifies existing theoretical models in the context of a developing economy. Methods. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed using an integrated theoretical framework combining Davis's Technology Acceptance Model and DeLone & McLean's Information Systems Success Model, collecting data from 100 large Iraqi companies (500 + employees) across banking, telecommunications, manufacturing, and oil & gas sectors through stratified random sampling, with validated scales measuring HRIS quality dimensions and employee performance indicators analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, multiple regression, and structural equation modeling. The test results confirm the model's cross-cultural applicability from the perspective of system quality and in developing countries where the most important thing remains getting something, not fashion; but also, that high-tech industries are able to implement it successfully. HRIS is a huge chunk of evidence which supports that productivity investments in both new production lines and maintenance mechanism all bring practical significance to HRIS without significant outcomes as in the positive realm for industry.
