Abstract

Abstract

The rapid integration of AI into contemporary workplaces has intensified the importance of AI-related capabilities for graduate self-perceived employability (SPE). Drawing on Social Cognitive Career Theory, this study conceptualizes AI literacy (AIL) as a foundational resource shaping undergraduate students’ AI competency (AIC), career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMSE), and SPE. In addition, the study examines the moderating role of growth mindset (GM) in strengthening the relationships between AIL and both AIC and CDMSE. Using a quantitative research design, survey data were collected from 381 undergraduate students in China. The findings indicate that AIL is positively associated with AIC and CDMSE. Both AIC and CDMSE are significant predictors of SPE, while AIC also shows a positive association with CDMSE. Moreover, GM enhances the positive effects of AIL on AIC and CDMSE. This study contributes to career development and SPE scholarship and offers practical implications for higher education institutions aiming to better prepare students for AI-driven labor markets.
