Abstract

Abstract

A new analytical method for radiostrontium in environmental water using a Sr sorbent was developed. In this method, the sorbent is added to sample solution, stirred for four hours, separated, and measured for 60 minutes. The minimum detectable concentration (MDC) was lower than 0.4 Bq L-1 , corresponding to 1 /75 of the permissible effluent standard of 90 Sr for wastewater in Japan (30 Bq L-1). The procedure provides within six hours and does not require any hazardous reagents. This method is applicable to the rapid and safe analysis of radiostrontium in environmental water.
