Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p>Objective Compare nutritional outcomes in very low birthweight (VLBW) infants discharged with nasogastric tube feeds and remote patient monitoring (RPM) to a historical cohort who remained hospitalized. Study Design In this retrospective case-control study, T-tests were used to compare differences in daily weight gain, change in weight z-scores, time to full oral feeds, and caloric intake at discharge. Results Between eligibility for RPM and discharge, no differences were seen in daily weight gain. Cases showed a significantly greater decline in weight Z-score (-0.19 vs. -0.03; p = 0.02). Time from birth to attainment of full oral feeds was significantly longer in cases (12.96 vs. 9.62 weeks; p < 0.01). Time from RPM eligibility to full oral feeds and caloric intake prior to discharge was not different between groups. Conclusion Infants in RPM had similar enteral intake and weight gain but achieved oral feeding later than hospitalized infants.</p>
