Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p> Three types of insecticide-sprayed trap trees lying on the ground (full-length spruce stems, 2-m and 4-m spruce logs) were treated with cypermethrin-based insecticide and lured with IT Ecolure pheromone. Collection sheets covered with mesh against birds were placed directly under the trap trees to collect dead fallen adults of <italic>Ips typographus</italic> . The capture of spruce bark beetle on the lying insecticide-sprayed full-length trap trees was strongly affected at distance ± 3 m of the lure and with the growing distance from the pheromone dispenser, the capture is not sufficiently effective. This type of trap tree is also not suitable due to increased insecticide consumption and difficult handling. 2-m logs sprayed with insecticides exhibit a lower efficiency due to their insufficient surface even when logs of 15 to 25 cm in diameter are used. The distance from the pheromone dispenser did not significantly modify the capture more in the log profile. The insecticide-sprayed 4-m logs in diameter over 25 cm, placed above the ground on sleepers or stumps, lured in the middle, are optimal. The distance of the pheromone dispenser strongly determines the effectiveness of insecticide-sprayed trap trees, with 4-m logs baited at the midpoint performing best, while full-length trees and 2-m logs are impractical or ineffective. </p>
