Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p>Objective To characterise the epidemiological, clinical, and care profile of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) admitted to a hospital series between 2021 and 2025, describing the temporal distribution, demographic profile, main diagnostic groups, surgical intervention, and hospital outcomes. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on a reviewed and curated hospital database. Of an initial 595 records, 578 were included in the final analysis. Frequencies, percentages, and measures of central tendency and dispersion were calculated. Results 578 patients were identified, of whom 479 were male (82.9%) and 99 female (17.1%). The mean age was 33.16 years and the median was 29.0 years (IQR 21.0–41.0). The most frequent diagnoses were brain contusion (21.5%), subdural haematoma (19.9%), and skull fracture (15.4%). A total of 192 patients (33.2%) underwent surgery. The most common hospital outcome was discharge (53.6%), followed by clinical improvement (32.7%) and death (10.9%). Conclusion The series reveals a profile dominated by young male patients, with a substantial burden of extra-axial haemorrhagic lesions and a notable surgical proportion.</p>
