Abstract

<title>Abstract</title> <p>Contemporary urban environments exhibit increasingly complex spatial structures that challenge conventional approaches to architectural analysis and design. This paper introduces the Mereological Syntax of Space (MSS) as a relational framework for translating urban spatial structures into architectural configuration. Grounded in mereological philosophy and part-whole logic, MSS conceptualizes spatial systems as assemblies of interconnected elements whose relations can be interpreted across urban and architectural scales. The framework introduces the concepts of the urban genome and the architectural genome and uses relational matrices to examine their constituent relations. An illustrative comparative case study is presented as a preliminary application of the framework, showing its analytical usefulness as a heuristic tool for assessing spatial continuity between urban and architectural configurations. MSS is thus positioned as a conceptual and methodological bridge between urban spatial analysis and architectural design.</p>
