Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p> Environmental degradation from wastewater significantly threatens whiteleg shrimp ( <italic>Litopenaeus vannamei</italic> ) farming by reducing water quality and affecting other aspects of cultivation. This study aims to assess the environmental and sustainability status and formulate appropriate development strategies for Gerokgak District, Bali, Indonesia. The research was conducted through observations, water quality measurements, and interviews. The first step was an environmental analysis comparing mangrove condition with production. In addition, water quality was analyzed to determine the impact of whiteleg shrimp farming on the coastal ecosystem. The second step was a sustainability analysis using the Rapid Appraisal Technique for Fisheries (RAPFISH), and the strategic position was determined through SWOT. The strategy was further refined using the QSPM method. The results showed a correlation between mangrove forest density and whiteleg shrimp farming; moreover, the ecosystem pollution index remained low because waste assimilation exceeded the total effluent load. These findings indicate that the ecosystem is ecologically suitable for whiteleg shrimp aquaculture. The sustainability status score is in the potential (63.19%) range, with the technology dimension having the highest score. The strategy to achieve sustainability is based on holding and maintaining. The QSPM assessment identified the priority strategies: biofilter utilization (35.886 TAS), feed additives (35.528 TAS), and the optimized role of shrimp club (33.135 TAS). The strategy emphasizing technological enhancement for economic development while strengthening the ecological and social aspects of aquaculture in Gerokgak. The results of this study will be implemented to achieve a sustainable shrimp farm for global pilot projects. </p>
