Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p> Quality healthcare is a crucial need for every individual. Good health nurtures happiness and fosters positive self-esteem. However, numerous public healthcare facilities face several hurdles that hinder effective service delivery for communities nationwide, especially those in rural settings. The difficulties faced by both healthcare workers and patients due to poor service delivery spiral out of control. <bold>Methodology:</bold> The study employed a qualitative method to explore and understand the challenges faced by public health care facilities in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality in their efforts to improve health security for vulnerable populations. Fieldwork was conducted through 20 semi-structured interviews, 4 focus group discussions, and direct observations across seven clinics and one healthcare centre. Participants of the study included healthcare workers, patients, and/or community members, selected using purposive and snowball sampling <bold>.</bold> Therefore, the <bold>empirical findings</bold> of the study will inform policymakers in healthcare to develop measures that will enhance rural healthcare in terms of systematic operations, infrastructure development, and funding. <bold>Conclusion:</bold> Persistent resource shortages, staff constraints, and infrastructure gaps significantly hinder service delivery, highlighting the need for interventions to enhance rural healthcare. </p>
