Abstract
<title>Abstract</title> <p>The vagus nerve serves as a critical modulator of the autonomic nervous system, linking visceral physiology with affective and cognitive processes. While transcutaneous cervical Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tcVNS) has shown promise in treating isolated conditions such as migraine and epilepsy, its cumulative, systemic effects on healthy individuals remain under-explored. This 4-week longitudinal study (N = 20 healthy females) examined the cumulative effects of a 25 Hz tcVNS protocol across six biopsychosocial domains: stress, digestion, somatic symptoms, cognition, appetite, and sleep. Linear mixed-effects models (LMMs) revealed significant reductions in symptom burden for Somatic symptoms, Digestion, Sleep, and Appetite. Item-level analyses identified a high-impact symptom cluster centered on neck tension and tension-type headaches, suggesting a mechanism involving the desensitization of the trigeminocervical complex. These findings suggest that tcVNS may promote systemic autonomic stabilization.</p>
