Abstract

Abstract

Background To compare the relevant parameters measured by the IOL Master 700, the Pentacam Scheimpflug system, and the OPD-SCAN III to guiding the selection of multifocal intraocular lenses in cataract patients. Methods A retrospective study included 169 patients with cataract. K1, K2, chord kappa, chord alpha, and corneal spherical aberration were measured using the IOL Master 700, Pentacam Scheimpflug system, and OPD-SCAN III. Pairwise t-tests, Pearson tests, and Bland-Altman analyses were used to evaluate the difference, correlation and consistency between devices. Results For K1 and K2, all three devices showed strong correlations and good agreement (all P < 0.001). For chord kappa, although correlations were strong across devices (all P < 0.001), the measured values from IOL Master 700 and OPD-SCAN III differed significantly from Pentacam (P < 0.05); notably, OPD-SCAN III agreed well with Pentacam, whereas IOL Master 700 agreed poorly with both. Chord alpha measurements exhibited weak to moderate correlations (r = 0.286, 0.599 and 0.256, P < 0.001) and poor overall agreement. Although the corneal spherical aberration between the Pentacam Scheimpflug system and the OPD-SCAN III was moderately correlated (r = 0.551, P < 0.001), they had good consistency. Conclusions The IOL Master 700 is interchangeable with both the OPD-SCAN III and the Pentacam Scheimpflug system for K1 and K2 measurements. The OPD-SCAN III and the Pentacam Scheimpflug system are interchangeable in chord kappa and corneal spherical aberration measurements.
