The history of studying archaeological sites of Lake Chusovskoye and the Berezovka River

<jats:p>Lake Chusovskoe and the Berezovka River are located in the north of modern Perm Krai and border the watershed of the Kama and Pechora river basins. During archaeological excavations in the 1960s and 1970s, 18 sites dating from the Mesolithic to modern times were identified and partially excavated in this area. As a result, the researchers concluded that these sites are of significant interest for studying the ancient history of the northern Kama regions and cultural ties with the territories of the Pechora and Vychegda basins, as well as the northern Trans-Urals. Renewed interest in the archaeological sites of Lake Chusovskoe and the Berezovka River led to the resumption of archaeological exploration in this region in the XXI century. The conducted research demonstrated the preservation of these sites and the potential for their in-depth study using modern methodologies, both within the archaeological field and in collaboration with natural scientists. Continued research will provide an opportunity to study in more detail the history of this territory’s development during the Holocene and the interactions between archaeological cultures of the Kama region, the northern Urals, and the Trans-Urals.</jats:p>
